Kaya is very small and petite, a carryover from an illness she had as a baby that hindered her growth. Aside from this, she looks like a typical Water Tribe member with her tan skin, dark brown hair, and blue eyes. She almost always has a soft gentle smile or an expression on her face, though this is usually a mask to hide the sturdier, tougher side of her. She is very slim. Due to the fact that she resides in the Earth Kingdom, her clothing style is that of an Earth Kingdom citizen, however, she wears the traditional Water Tribe blues. She usually carries around several water skins in case she is attacked or someone needs an emergency healing.

THIS IS HOW I AM ;;
There are two different ways to view Kaya: the way she wants people to view her, and the way she actually is. She's lived a dualistic life for a very long time and is skilled in keeping up pretenses. She's a naturally gentle girl, kind-hearted, and caring towards others, which led to her interest in becoming a healer. However, there is the facet to her personality that's meaner, where she's a very dangerous and capable fighter, something she learned from her brother, especially after he was captured by the Fire Nation.
On the surface, she's easygoing and flexible, much like the element she can bend. She's very slow to anger and is ready with a smile for just about anyone, children in particular. She's very motherly and has a tendency to fret often over a certain patient. She worries particularly over her older brother who was badly injured while being held prisoner by the Fire Nation. However, underneath the mask, she's a stubborn, proud young woman. Her anger, while still slow to ignite, is said to be terrifying and there are those who claim that they would rather anger the former Fire Lord, Ozai, than anger Kaya. She's a strong, dependable warrior and seasoned, from her stint in the war. She's fiercely protective of those she cares about. She can be cold, callous, even cruel to an opponent. She's good at keeping secrets and has a rebellious streak deep within her. She tends to hold grudges and is known to suffer from jealousy on occasion.

MY BACKGROUND CHECK ;;
Kaya was born in the Northern Water Tribe like her older brother, Akna. However, just before giving birth, her mother fell ill and went into labor early. As a result, Kaya was very small when she was born and suffered from a similar illness to her mother. The Healers believed that she wasn't going to survive, however, she did and became a healthy baby girl. Her mother died a week later, both from the illness and from complications due to the delivery. As a result, Kaya has always been very small. She had a normal childhood, her brother showing signs of great potential as a Waterbender from a very young age. He was later taken to become one of Master Pakku's students and became known as a Waterbending prodigy.
Likewise, Kaya began to exhibit the ability to Waterbend at the time she was seven years old. Told by her father that she could only learn to heal with her bending, she quietly seemed to accept her fate. Later, a week after her healing lessons began, her father went hunting on the tundra, however, he got lost in a blizzard. By the time the storm cleared, there was no chance of finding him alive. Akna became Kaya's surrogate father as the only family she had left. Eventually, she managed to persuade him to teach her how to use her Waterbending skills for more than just healing. He always made sure they were careful during their little impromptu lessons, since getting caught meant shaming the tribe. The lessons continued right up until the time the new Avatar and his companions arrived. Meanwhile, she began assiting Yugota with healing lessons. She first met Katara from the Southern Tribe there, amused with her attempts to persuade Master Pakku to teach her alongside the Avatar. When the younger girl finally managed to persuade him, Kaya was more than astonished. She was envious, however, the Fire Nation attacked before Kaya could confront her. In the midst of battle, her brother was captured by the Fire Nation.
Kaya left her homeland in order to rescue her brother, becoming involved in the war on the Avatar's side. After the war ended and Sozin's Comet had passed, she travelled to the Fire Nation to inquire after her brother, who had recently been freed from prison and was being taken to the Earth Kingdom for medical attention as the Captial City in the Fire Nation had been practically destroyed. She was reunited with Akna only to find, to her horror, that he had had both an arm and a leg broken by the prison guards in order to prevent him from Waterbending, the breaks, while they healed were bad enough to cause him to lose the use of them. She took him out of the hospital once the doctors there told her he was well enough to travel and they headed south, settling in a village not far from the city of Omashu as Kaya believes that the milder climate is better for his health and they have lived there ever since, minding their own business and even running a small clinic/apothecary shop. However, news of the start of another war makes them uneasy and Akna fears that Kaya will be called back onto the battlefield to fight once more.

THIS IS HOW I ROLL ;;Sam took off running down the dark, empty corridor. No noise could be heard save for the pounding of her boots against the smooth marble and the rythmic sound of her breathing as she sprinted, entering what looked like a large open courtyard in the center of the building. A large, grand fountain bubbled peacefully in the center of the landscaped retreat and dark grey flagstones formed a sort of path through the tiny garden, the work of meticulous care and attention to detail. Not something she expected to see in a place where crime and evil ran rampant.
Hey, Sammy, miss me? she jumped about five feet in the air, figuratively speaking. The ethereal form of her master Azrael was doubled over laughing "What the hell was that for?!" she said in as loud and angry a voice as was possible given the circumstances. "You bring me all the way out here in the middle of the night unarmed and you have the idiocy to sneak up and scare me?! Really Sammy, there's no need to be so upset, look, I brought you something to make you feel all better... he pulled and long, sheathed sword from behind his back and handed it to her grinning.
"Angelus! Good... now I have some manner of protection against the mobsters with machine guns!" she said with a roll of the eyes, slipping the sheath strap over her shoulder until the blade hung diagonally across her back in easy reach of her left hand. Man, this assignment was going to be a barrel of laughs she could already tell. Oh... well... it gets better... Azrael laughed nervously, trying not to shrink away from her glare. You've got a partner this time around.
"WHAT?!" she nearly shrieked out loud, "Who the hell is it?" The angel sighed, trying to figure out the best way to word his response, knowing that there were two possiblities with her: pissed and totally furious. Well... he's not very old, younger than you I believe. He's one of that fickle bastard Nergal's. The prick's been strutting around the temple for ages, boasting about the kid's skill, a real child genius he is. From an old family too, I believe they're involved in some type of organized crime in... the Middle East possibly? "Great... just great, just how the hell am I s'posed to work with this kid? He's gonna go totally condescendin' the minute I open my mouth," she growled, trying to determine the best way to go about this particular one. Well, think of it this way, it's New York, you've got home court advantage don't you? Azrael inquired and the woman blinked at him, What? "You been watchin' sports on our TV again?"
Never mind that Sammy, look, you've got to get up to the 19th floor, from what I've heard, this kid's a nutcase, brilliant, but a nutcase, so let's get a move on before innocent people... ok... uninvolved people... start to get hurt. She nodded, looking straight up to where the 19th floor would be. "You wanna give me a lift? I can't use Angelus' power without drawin' a ton of attention," Azrael nodded, easily lifted her and took off up the side of the building before depositing her into an open window on the level in question, just before hearing the unmistakable sound of machine gun fire. Sam ran out into the hall while Azrael floated behind her. The woman was sure her kid partner was being fired upon by mafia hit men, but to her shock, the only person in the hall was a slim figure in a dark suit putting away... "A Galtin' Gun? You're tellin' me this kid has a Galtin' Gun?!" she pointed to the kid in question and stomped over to him. She swung her fist, desiring to box his ears for being so stupid. "What the fuckin' hell are you doin'? Do you wanna get us killed?!"
